Midlakes Theatre Experience presents 'The Odd Couple: Female Version'

In a season of new beginnings, the award-winning Midlakes Theatre Experience is excited to announce its fall production, 'The Odd Couple (Female Version)' The classic contrasting duo of comedy, Ungar and Madison, are at it again. This time, it's Florence Ungar and Olive Madison in this retelling of Neil Simon's hilarious classic.

Directed by Marie Fischer (Class of 2015) with Mikayla Wilkes and Stefan Uveges (Class of 2013) as Assistant Directors, 'The Odd Couple (Female Version)' remains in the Big Apple, with most of the story playing out in Madison's high-rise apartment. The technical elements for this production are led by Cris Brown (Class of 1994), with lighting design by Ross Gifford (Class of 1997) as well as props and set dressing curated by Trevor Barcomb (Class of 2018).

A rigid-minded Florence Unger has everything in its place. Bordering on obsessive with her neat and orderly world, she moves in with Olive Madison, a disorganized and polar opposite. While Madison spends carelessly and lives a disheveled life amid clutter and spoiled food, life seems to be a delight. The two banter and bicker, all while navigating friendships, relationships, and their weekly game of Trivial Pursuit. Mackenzie Weitzel (Class of '28) and classmate Hayden Bump will portray the lead duo of Ungar and Madison, respectively.

'The Odd Couple (Female Version)' features some other role-reversals. Instead of having the 'guys' over for games, Unger and Madison welcome 'the gals;' Sylvie, Mickey, Renee and Vera. The 'gals' will be played by Cecelia Clemons, Allison DeRuyter, Ellie Dorr and Liesl Dorr. The Costazuela brothers - portrayed by Seniors Justin Herman and Gavin Ruggles - replace the Pidgeon Sisters in the infamous Act Two double date. Theatregoers can expect an evening of laughter, comedy and heartfelt storytelling.

The Midlakes Theatre Experience prides itself on fostering talent and producing quality performances for the community.
